Your Local Ajax Painters & Painting Contractors.

Are you looking for local Ajax painters for your home or business? For twenty plus years Ecopainting has been servicing the painting needs of this growing community. In fact, we provide both interior and exterior services throughout the entire Durham Region.

Ajax has been growing considerably since the 1980s, comprising both housing and industrial growth. With highway extensions and plans to widen the local roadways, the municipality is frantically preparing for the future. Our GTA painters are looking forward to growing together with this vibrant Durham community.

Many Ajax residents work in Toronto and commute to downtown daily. A number of them work in Oshawa but that’s about to change after the announced General Motors closures. The commercial section is located south of Bayly Street, between Brock Road and Harwood. There is a concentration of small and big businesses there, with some major employers such as the Ajax Pickering Hospital and Volkswagen Canada.

Notable Commercial Projects – Painting in Ajax since 2002!

2002 Commercial project Volkswagen Group in Ajax

Painting at the Volkswagen Group on Bayly Street

In 2002 Ecopainting had the pleasure of painting the headquarters of Volkswagen Canada, located on Bayly Street. This was the biggest contract that our small company at the time was ever awarded. We spent two months working in that location and mostly during evening hours. It was a busy facility and we did not want to inconvenience their employees or disrupt the daily operations.

The initial scope of work was to paint the offices, hallways, common and office areas, as well as some warehouse and storage space. The product we used at the Volkswagen project was the zero VOC Eco-spec from Benjamin Moore. We were very happy with its performance and so was the customer. Since then Benjamin Moore replaced that product line with the improved Ultra-Spec 500.

Customer’s Comments: “…the quality of their work was excellent, especially considering there was no disruption of any kind to the staff. Their use of ecologically friendly painting methods left virtually no smell. In fact most employees were not even aware there was painting going on. Most importantly the job finished on time and within budget” Monte W.

Weber Construction – A Great Contractor

A few months later the customer decided to completely renovate the employee area and the cafeteria. The general contractor they awarded this project to was Weber Construction. Weber was a significant player in the GTA commercial arena for decades. We were very fortunate to be the company contracted for the paint job. It was the first project and the start of a great relationship we formed with a great contractor. For years we were their “go to” painters for the important projects, including painting at Go Transit locations in Pickering and throughout the Durham Region.

Pickering Village United Church in Ajax – Interior painting

The Pickering United Church was established in 1930 but the first building was build on Kingston Road in 1891. After a while the church outgrew the building and there was no room for expansion. They ended up moving to a new facility on Church Street in Ajax. The land for this 25,000 square foot building was donated in 1988 by local developer John Boddy.Church painted interior in Ajax

In the interior of the building we painted the hallways and common areas of the church including the doors. This was a successful project for a very happy customer. The church has since been a good source of referral residential business in the Pickering and Ajax area.

Since then we painted a few more projects in the Ajax area such as: the Go Transit, the Pine Ridge Memorial, Monarch Kitchens, the Liquidation Centre, medical clinics at Bayly & Harwood, etc.

Residential Painting in Ajax

Before the war, Ajax used to be just a rural part of Pickering. The town itself was established in 1941, when a Defense Industries Limited (D.I.L.) plant was constructed. As expected, the town grew around the plant and by 1945 there were over 9 thousand people working there. The basic infrastructure for what later would become the town of Ajax was created during that time. The homes of that era are still used as housing in the old Ajax. Some are very small bungalows without a basement and without a backyard.

Most residential construction is now happening north of the old Ajax. Like most new subdivision homes, they come painted with the dreaded and cheap “builder’s beige”. We love painting newer homes as they are great for decorating. We painted a few of them in Ajax and Whitby, especially along the Taunton Street developments.

An Interior paint job and Painting a very cute Nursery

Nursery painted for Ajax mother Blue kitchen by our Ajax painters

Tammie L. is one of our residential customers. We painted her beautiful home when she was out of the country. The arrangement proved to be convenient for the customer and much easier for the painters. An empty home is better to work in as the customer does not get inconvenienced. For any questions we had, her father was close by to answer them.

Tammie’s was a very interesting and rewarding project. Among the areas we painted in their home, was the nursery and the kitchen. In the nursery, a unique striping effect was used with very pretty colours. We used a lot of masking tape that was delicately applied and removed. We used Benjamin Moore Aura matte for the majority of the rooms. In the kitchen Tammie chose a cool and yet vibrant blue tone. A kitchen paint with that colour would surely encourage a lot of cooking activity and social interaction. The remaining areas of this home were painted with neutral warm colours. The customer was impressed with the professionalism and promptness of our Ajax Painters:

“What a great team they were! They started on time every day and finished on schedule. The work was wonderful and we are very pleased with everything. It was a pleasure. Thanks Karon and crew!”

Since 2016 Ecopainting is an active members of the Ajax Pickering Board of Trade and always networking with the Durham Region community.
